WOMENS SHAHADAH STUDIES
At United Muslim Masjid 810 So. 15th Street The class objective is to strengthen the bond of sisterhood with a common interest in developing a sound understanding of Islamic Fundamentals. Upon increasing in knowledge and faith, we intend to elevate our standard of character and life to coincide with the Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah (salla lahu alayhi wa salam).
UMM encourages the continuity of education in all facets and is dedicated to providing a viable source for learning about Islam. The New Shahadah Studies program introduces the following: Fundamentals of Islam Women Only Course (3 Level Course) Each 8-week course takes place on Sunday from 10 am to 12 pm.
This course seeks to provide Muslims with a strong religious foundation by introducing and reinforcing recurring themes and concepts of the Quran, prophetic traditions (i.e. sunnah) and remembrances and supplications. Participants are also introduced to common regulations relating to Islamic prayer and are familiarized with the phrases and meanings of the prayer wordage.
UMM encourages its constituents to maintain a connection with the Quran and the prophetic traditions as it is through revelation that eman (i.e. dynamic faith) is nurtured, developed and sustained. As such, greater familiarity to the major themes of the Quran and prophetic traditions is sought via an in-depth examination of the following:
-
Common Islamic remembrances (i.e. SubhanAllah, Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah)
-
Surah al Fatihah
-
Merits of Islam (i.e. unique positive aspects and qualities of Islam)
